The Hawkbirds covering the Ramones track, “Babysitter” Background… “Babysitter,” written by the Ramones, is a track from their 1977 album Leave Home. It appeared on the UK edition after “Carbona Not Glue” was removed from the album because of concerns over the use of the Carbona brand name. Like in many Ramones songs, they take an ordinary situation and give it a mischievous punk-rock twist, turning the simple idea of a babysitter into a funny little story filled with teenage energy and chaos. With a melodic guitar riff and a catchy hook, “Babysitter” captures the playful side of the Ramones… proving that even something as ordinary as watching the kids can become a perfect excuse for a handful of chords and a little trouble. Brown Bear stopped by to keep Rose company, and somehow a quiet evening turned into a full-blown adventure involving two mischievous little kids, a broken lamp, and Brown Bear getting blamed for something he definitely didn't do. These days, whenever “Babysitter” comes on, Brown Bear just smiles and remembers that sometimes visiting Rose means finding yourself in the middle of trouble before you even know what happened. 🧸❤️🐇 Audio… This cover was recorded on August 23, 2026, in our basement studio on 6 separate tracks, using a Zoom H6 audio interface, which was then mixed in GarageBand: 1. Vocals (Audix OM5 Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphones) 2. Lead guitar (Gibson Les Paul Studio) & amp (Marshall Valvestate 2000) w/pedal (Boss ME-80) 3. Bass guitar (Ibanez miKro) & amp (Fender Rumble 40) 4. Bass drum (Ludwig Neusonic 22” Bass Drum) 5. Toms/snare (Ludwig 13" Tom, 16" Floor Tom, and 14” Snare) 6. Cymbals (Zildjian A Custom Cymbals - (16” hi-hat, 18” & 20” crash, 20” ride) *The drums were recorded using an overhead stereo pair of sE Electronics sE8 condenser microphones, complemented by an Audix D6 cardioid dynamic microphone for the kick drum. To ensure a precise balance and bring out the nuances of each instrument, we relied on Sennheiser HD-660S2 headphones during the mastering process. Given the small size of our studio and the inherent challenge of the drums' volume, we are continually working to achieve the best possible sound.
