Our First Month of Homeschool Kindergarten! | Homeschool Adventures

We officially made it through our first month of homeschool kindergarten! September was our first full month homeschooling Charli, and it definitely came with a learning curve... for both of us. 😂 In our first Homeschool Adventures update, I’m sharing how kindergarten has been going so far, what Charli has been enjoying, where we’ve struggled, some of our favorite activities and experiments, and a few things I’ve already learned about teaching my own kid. We’re using All About Reading Level 1 and Math With Confidence Kindergarten for our main curriculum, along with handwriting, Bible, hands-on science, read-alouds, and some everyday life skills mixed in. There have already been plenty of wins, a few failed science experiments, some changes to how we approach our lessons, and one very disappointed five-year-old who learned that “dancing raisins” do not, in fact, actually dance. 😂 One of the biggest things I’m learning is that homeschool doesn’t have to look exactly like the plan I made before we started. Sometimes we split a lesson into two days. Sometimes we skip something that isn’t working. Sometimes the science experiment is a complete dud. We’re figuring out what works for Charli and for our family as we go. I also haven’t been recording every moment of our school days, and that has been intentional. I want to be present and enjoy teaching her instead of constantly stopping to pull out my phone. These monthly Homeschool Adventures videos will be a chance to look back at how things are going, what stood out, and what we’re learning along the way.
