Galatians 2:1-5 (NIV) "Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain. Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you." There are seasons where the pressure to shrink back into old religious boxes can feel almost reasonable, almost kind, almost like just keeping the peace. But the freedom you have in Christ was not given to you as a suggestion or a starting point for negotiation. It was won, it was defended, and it belongs to you fully, not one hour less than that. Defiant. Warm. Resolved. Grounded. Quietly Fierce. Perfect for resisting religious pressure, standing firm in gospel freedom, processing a return to legalistic environments. ---------------------------------------- LYRICS [Intro - acoustic guitar fingerpicking, 8 bars, no vocals] [Verse 1] I know what it feels like to walk back into that room where the air still smells like obligation and every face is asking something of you They hand you all the old weight dressed up like it's love and care and something in you wants to take it just to prove that you belong there But I remember standing at the door with everything I thought I had to be before and Someone said, that life was not yours anymore [Pre-Chorus] So I am not going back not even for a day not even for an hour not even halfway What He finished is finished what He gave cannot be earned I am not surrendering what I finally learned [Chorus] Not even for an hour I will not lay it down not the freedom that He bled for not the ground that He has found me on They can press and they can pull but this is not mine to trade He held nothing back for me so I will not be afraid Not even for an hour not one hour [Verse 2] I have seen those chains before still curled up on the stone still shaped like the wrists that wore them before the day we were finally known And I get it, I do, how the pressure can sound so reasonable and right how the voices that claim to love you can make the cage feel like it shines But I have read the letter now carried fourteen years without a word crossed out and everything I need to stand on, He laid out [Pre-Chorus] So I am not going back not even for a day not even for an hour not even halfway What He finished is finished what He gave cannot be earned I am not surrendering what I finally learned [Chorus] Not even for an hour I will not lay it down not the freedom that He bled for not the ground that He has found me on They can press and they can pull but this is not mine to trade He held nothing back for me so I will not be afraid Not even for an hour not one hour [Bridge] This is not a fight I started this is not a wall I built alone I went and laid it all out in the open let the ones I trusted look it over and there was nothing to correct not a single margin marked with red because He said it and He meant it and I am not the one who pays that debt So if you come to me with something that He already fulfilled in full if you stand there at the gate and tell me I still owe you something that I do not I will stand here with my arms across the frame I will stand here and I will say His name and I will not give up one hour not one hour not one hour [Chorus] Not even for an hour I will not lay it down not the freedom that He bled for not the ground that He has found me on They can press and they can pull but this is not mine to trade He held nothing back for me so I will not be afraid Not even for an hour not one hour [Instrumental - full band swell, 8 bars, no vocals] [Outro] Not for the crowd pressing in not for the voice that says begin again not for the version of me that never quite believed that I was free He gave it all so I could walk inside ... ---------------------------------------- STAY CONNECTED Comment "NOT ONE HOUR" if you have ever felt pressure to trade your freedom in Christ for someone else's approval or their version of the rules Send this to someone who is fighting to hold onto what God freed them from, because sometimes the loudest thing you can do for a friend is remind them that the truth of the gospel is worth protecting.
