*FAQ – DLSS 5 Showcase Videos* *What is DLSS 5?* DLSS 5 is a "generative rendering system." It analyzes the scene/screen (lighting, materials, characters, etc.) and applies photorealistic lighting and material improvements in real time. In simpler terms, it makes a photorealistic filter over the game in real time. *Why use DLSS 5?* It can dramatically improve visual quality — especially lighting, materials, skin, fabric, and overall realism — in a way that goes beyond traditional graphics settings. These videos are simply demonstrations of what the technology looks like when applied to games. It can distort things for sure, I'm not going to deny that, but this is based on a leaked build as far as I know & distortion is to be expected here and there when you crank up the settings to be as extreme as I did *What are passes?* It's essentially how many times I'm running the filter (DLSS 5) over the game/screen. The more passes, the more extreme the effect will be. *What method am I using?* I’m using the **OBS method**. DLSS 5 (via Reno) is applied as a filter/post-process effect inside OBS Studio over the game capture, not injected directly into the game itself. *Why is the frame rate so low?* I’m running **x3 multi-pass**. This heavily multiplies the processing cost of the neural rendering, which tanks the frame rate. It’s intentional for maximum visual effect in these showcase videos, not for easily playable performance. I am only able to stomach it so well because I have a thousand or more hours on switch Dead By Daylight. *Why is there ghosting?* Because this is the OBS method (a filter over the game rather than a proper in-game injection), the technology doesn’t receive full engine data like accurate motion vectors. Reno also specifically seems to have more noticeable ghosting artifacts with the OBS method. *Why can it look different so often?* A few reasons. For one, its working on the fly with whatever information is on screen so its constantly working hard to analyze the screen, calculate the filter, then display it which can cause some of the artifacting, pulsating lights, etc. Also in addition it has extra settings and presets to tweak how it looks, I might tweak it between cuts or games causing in the same scenario plausibly looking different between moments or recordings. *Is this cheating?* No. This is purely a visual post-process effect applied outside the game for recording/showcase purposes. It does not modify gameplay, hitboxes, detection, or any competitive elements. *Can I get banned for using DLSS 5 on Dead by Daylight?* Injecting it *directly into the game* → High risk. Most anti-cheat systems will flag it. Using the *OBS method* (inject into OBS + screen projection/game capture) → Should be fine. You’re not modifying the game process at all. *What are my PC SPECS?* 32gb ram RTX 5070ti X570-A PRO AMD Ryzen 7 5700x 8-Core
