DIY Painting & Flocking Goose Floaters

Didn’t want to pay full price for new ones so we picked up some really beat up goose floaters and decided to fix them up. They had a bunch of leaks, busted heads, rough paint and there were 6 different brands so they just looked like a rough bunch of decoys. We got them all cleaned up, sealed up holes and fixed the heads that were broken. Painted the bodies with rustoleum flat sand spray paint. Lightened up the chest with flat white rustoleum spray paint. I ran flat rustoleum leather brown with a drop of flat black (maybe 5:1) through an airbrush to add feather detail. Finished up airbrushing by using 2:1 flat black to leather brown to add depth and shading. We added a layer of black nylon flocking over gloss black rustoleum on the heads and finished the project by painting the butts and cheeks flat white. A wise man would now do a bunch of layers of keylon flat clear coat but I live life on the edge and don’t mind touch ups in the off-season. Sometimes you can make some great lemonade with the lemons you find on marketplace.
