Can you really save a 38-foot yacht for just €8,000?
That’s exactly the question I asked myself when I bought the boat that I hope will one day take me around the world. What many people would have considered nothing more than a wreck was about to be transformed, step by step, into a reliable bluewater sailing yacht.
In this video, you’ll see the first four months of the complete boat refit — from a neglected yacht sitting on the hard to some of the biggest milestones: the engine, underwater hull, solar system, solar arch, electrical system, diesel heater, running water, and many other projects that were necessary to get the boat ready for the journey ahead.
There were moments when I seriously doubted whether I could pull this off, but there were also moments when I realized that the dream of sailing around the world was becoming more and more real.
If you’re interested in honest boat refit stories, DIY projects, sailing, and preparing an old yacht for a long-distance journey, you’ve come to the right place.
