Mercedes-Benz Days Out with the Scottish SLK Owners Club - 26th April 2026.

Another fun outing with Mercedes-Benz Days Out. Join Richard to catch a glimpse of a typical Mercedes-Benz Day Out, amongst like-minded people and enthusiasts. Today we are honoured guests of the Scottish SLK Owners Club Facebook Group:   / scottishslkownersclub   So, Nicola and I have swapped cars for the day, and I'm going to join the SLK Club Road Run in her brilliant little R170 SLK320 AMG-Line. We'll take a trip from Loch Leven's Larder: https://www.lochlevenslarder.com to The Pillars Of Hercules: https://pillars.co.uk in a figure-of-eight route around Fife. There will even be a "Roof Race" between three "identical" first-generation SLK's. Which R170 will close its roof the quickest? The brochure from 1999 says 25-28 seconds from open to closed... but what will it be over 20 years later? And will they all be the same? We had a brilliant day amongst some very interesting cars, some great visitors, some passionate owners, and some lovely food and (non-alcoholic, officer...) drinks. Don't think that you need to be a millionaire to run a Merc!!! Most owners are just normal people, trying to keep their favourite Mercedes-Benz cars on the road for as little money as possible. They're no strangers to eBay, the factors, or the breakers yards if necessary! You'd be amazed at how little money you can buy your first classic Mercedes-Benz car for. And they needn't be the bottomless pit of money that some people will have you believe. :-)
