This is the second song this week in the theme of “An older man traces the bittersweet weight of passing years through the eyes of a younger woman." Even though this song was released "relatively" late in Jacky's peak, it's one of his greatest songs imo. Every time I hear it I find myself tearing up over the storytelling and the emotions portrayed through Jacky's vocals. Even though I think all fans of this song will share this perspective, this song is very personal to me. I've been listening to Jacky almost my entire life, and had his songs by my side through thick and thin. Based on the amount of Jacky songs I have on this channel, you could probably guess he's my favourite singer of all time. I've been to his concert in 3 different decades in my life, and reflecting on how much my life has changed in these decades makes this song hit extra hard. At first, I didn't know if it was actually possible to adapt this song to English. I felt this one and David Tao's 二十二 have a special storytelling quality that is extra hard to interpret from the original Chinese. However, after having done 二十二, it gave me the confidence to tackle 她來聽我的演唱會. I hope I did the song justice. Btw, the changes to the woman's age are intentional. I tweaked it a bit in order to make the lyrics flow better.
