UCC SOPPS partner with KASH Chemist with the support of GIZ

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) at the University of Cape Coast has partnered with KASH Chemist in an exciting Laboratory to Industry to Market initiative aimed at developing an innovative approach to improving the accuracy of anti-malaria dosage for children. The collaboration brings together academic research, pharmaceutical innovation and industry expertise to address an important challenge in child healthcare: ensuring innovative oral disintegrating solutions without the need of water that can potentially improve the way anti-malaria medicines are formulated and dosed for children Through the Lab-Industry-Market approach, research findings and scientific ideas can move beyond the laboratory and progress toward practical pharmaceutical solutions. The partnership demonstrates how collaboration between universities and industry can help transform research into innovations with the potential to benefit communities. Malaria continues to place a significant burden on children and families, particularly across Africa. Accurate paediatric dosing is therefore an important area of pharmaceutical research and development. Speaking through this initiative, SoPPS continues to demonstrate its commitment to research, innovation and industry collaboration, while strengthening the connection between pharmaceutical education, scientific discovery and real-world healthcare needs.
