24 HOURS IN ILOCOS SUR | A Business Trip Turned Into a Weekend Getaway What happens when a business trip takes you to one of the most beautiful parts of Ilocos Sur? For this vlog, we traveled to Santiago, Ilocos Sur to meet with our clients and personally visit one of their properties—a 29,848-square-meter elevated property with a beautiful view of Santiago Cove. Getting a proper view of the property wasn't as easy as expected. With tall cornfields blocking the way, we eventually decided that the best way to see the property was from the air. Thankfully, our drone pilot was available the following morning. Once the property shoot was done, it was time to enjoy Ilocos Sur. We had dinner by the coast, visited Biak-na-Bato, also known as Mapisi Rock, explored the coastline, and got to spend some time feeding animals—which turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the trip. We eventually made our way to Vigan, where we rode a traditional calesa, explored the historic streets, and learned a little more about Vigan's history as a pre-colonial trading center. One of the interesting stories we discovered was how Vigan's location and waterways once played an important role in trade, with Chinese merchants sailing into the area through the Mestizo River. The vlog also takes a closer look at the old connection between the Cordillera Mountains, the Abra River, gold, and Vigan's historic role as a trading hub. This trip was a reminder that work and travel don't always have to be separate. Sometimes, taking care of business also gives you a reason to discover a place from a different perspective.
