Paddy's Lamentation - Ger O Donnell

Paddy's Lamentation. It describes a young Irishman, Paddy, who leaves Ireland, where he faces hunger and poverty, to go to Civil War era America (early 1860s), where he hopes to make his fortune. Instead, upon his arrival, he is given a gun and told to “go and fight for Lincoln.”
