Night Stalkers are the Army's elite helicopter pilots who specialize in inserting and extracting elite military forces behind enemy lines in the darkness of night. This is their tribute and courageous story in song by @America250Band:
(Song Lyrics, Music and Arrangement by Dr. Donny "Rocker" Deever)
[Intro]
When the moon is low and the world goes black,
when the far-off call says, “Bring 'em back,”
when the hardest road needs wings by night,
their rotors rise without a light.
[Verse 1]
From a promise born of desert pain,
“Never again” became the flame.
A nation learned what night would need:
the pilot’s nerve, the crewman’s speed.
From Campbell fields they took the sky,
where only ghosts and eagles fly,
and learned to make the darkness bend
to bring the brave back home again.
They don’t come loud, they don’t come slow,
they skim the earth where shadows go.
Through mountain teeth and weather’s roar,
they find the one impossible door.
For Rangers, SEALs, and Delta teams,
for Green Beret liberation dreams,
when no one else can reach the fight—
the Night Stalkers own the night.
[Pre-Chorus]
Time on target, blades in tune,
black wings cross a silver moon.
Plus or minus thirty strong—
right place, right second, all night long.
[Chorus]
Night Stalkers don’t quit,
they fly where the brave must go.
Low through the dark, hard through the storm,
unseen by the foe below.
Chinook thunder, Black Hawk fire,
Little Birds close to the ground—
when missions call for midnight wings,
that’s where the Night Stalkers are found.
No second thoughts, at fear they spit—
Night Stalkers don’t quit!
[Verse 2]
They came through Grenada’s burning test,
then Panama heard their blades press west.
Mogadishu saw them stay
when smoke and sorrow filled the day.
Afghan peaks, Iraqi sand,
long black nights in hostile lands,
from rooftops, roads, and mountain walls,
they answer every desperate call.
They carry more than troops and gear,
they carry trust through smoke and fear.
They carry names they may not say,
and friends from which they will not stray.
Assault, support, resupply,
command and control beneath the sky;
infiltration, exfiltration,
wings of a hidden warrior nation.
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Not all soldiers kick down doors,
some hover over moonless shores.
Some bring the fight, some bring the light,
some bring the whole team home by night.
[Chorus]
Night Stalkers don’t quit,
they fly where the brave must go.
Low through the dark, hard through the storm,
unseen by the foe below.
Chinook thunder, Black Hawk fire,
Little Birds close to the ground—
when the mission calls for midnight wings,
that’s where the Night Stalkers are found.
Rotor head cowboys with true grit—
Night Stalkers don’t quit!
[Verse 3]
To wear that name, they first must pass
a challenge very few can grasp.
Officer, warrant, enlisted best,
all must earn the centaur crest.
Green Platoon will test the will,
the body, mind, the flying skill.
For the bird, the crew, the mission’s weight,
no careless heart can hold that gate.
A crew chief’s eye, a pilot’s hand,
a medic ready to make a stand,
a maintainer’s pride at midnight’s call,
one loose bolt can risk them all.
So every wrench and every blade,
every plan and prayer is weighed.
Because the ones they lift and land
are freedom’s elite fighting hands.
[Bridge]
Ask the men on mountain stone,
when the cold cuts to the bone.
Ask the team behind the wall,
who hear those rotors answer all.
Ask the ones on rooftops pinned,
who feel hope rise upon the wind.
Ask the fallen, carved in light,
whose names still fly with them at night.
They don’t just master stick and blade,
they master fear without charade.
They fly by trust, they fly by creed,
they fly because the brave have need.
No easy road, no easy name,
no easy sleep after the flame.
Families wait while shadows call,
for those who rise to carry all.
[Cadence]
Sound off!
Night!
Sound off!
Stalkers!
Sound off!
Don’t quit!
Wings in the dark, blades in the mist!
Check the load, hold the line,
hit the mark, right on time.
Low and fast, quick of wit—
Night Stalkers don’t quit!
[Final Chorus]
Night Stalkers don’t quit,
they fly where the brave must go.
Airborne Ninja's in dark storms,
invisible to foes below.
Chinook thunder, Black Hawk fire,
Little Birds close to the ground—
when the mission calls for midnight wings,
that’s where the Night Stalkers are found.
No second thoughts, no fear in it—
Night Stalkers don’t quit.
[Final Lift]
For every crew that makes the ride,
for those souls who don't come home,
for every family standing proud
when the night feels long and lone,
raise the song where the rotors rise,
let grateful hearts admit:
America sleeps beneath their wings—
'Cause Night Stalkers don’t quit.
[Outro]
When the moon is low and the world goes black,
when the far-off call says, “Bring 'em back,”
when the hardest road needs wings by night,
the Night Stalkers lift toward the fight.
No fear. No fame. Full on commit.
Night Stalkers don’t quit!
