He wanted to walk home. The journey became almost three decades of his life. 🌍🚶
In 1998, Karl Bushby set off from Punta Arenas, Chile, with a seemingly impossible goal: reach his home in England along a continuous route without using transport to make forward progress.
Follow the Goliath Expedition through an animated world map — from South America’s jungles to North America, the frozen Bering Strait, Asia, the Caspian Sea and Europe.
Walking, swimming, border problems and years of delays: what does it take to keep going when home is still thousands of miles away?
On 5 October 2026, Bushby reached Dover after swimming the English Channel. At that landing, roughly 400 km remained to his home in Hull. The video follows his return to England and the remaining route toward home.
