In 2006, I left Jinan, China, for Melbourne, Australia. Twenty years later, I returned with a camera—to revisit Daming Lake, Hero Mountain, old markets and the flavours my body still remembered; to reconnect with family and old friends; and to understand what home means after growing up abroad. Told in four chapters—Time, Family, Friendship and Memory—this personal homecoming documentary is more than a China travel vlog or a family reunion. It explores the distance that can grow between people who still love one another, the friendships that survive years of silence, and the traces of home we unknowingly carry with us. I thought I had returned so Jinan could recognise me again. In the end, I realised I had come back to recognise everything Jinan had left in me. Going home is not going back to the past.
