What happens when life changes overnight—but God’s calling on your life doesn’t?
In this powerful episode of Women of Faith & Purpose, Dr. Andrea Richards Scott sits down with entrepreneur, author, radio host, and empowerment leader Madelyn Bass for an honest conversation about faith, healing, resilience, purpose, and trusting God when life looks nothing like you expected.
Madelyn’s story is remarkable.
After becoming paralyzed from the neck down, she entered a season that changed virtually everything about her life. She lost her independence, her income, and many of the things she had once been able to do—but she did not lose her faith.
In fact, Madelyn says the paralysis ultimately pushed her into her purpose.
During her recovery, she launched the online radio show So Real With Madelyn, creating a place for authentic conversations about business, personal development, faith, leadership, and overcoming life’s challenges. She also became the author of Tarnished Dreams, transforming experiences from her own life into a story designed to help others heal, persevere, and recognize that a difficult chapter does not have to become the end of their story.
In this conversation, we talk about:
• Trusting God when you cannot see what He is doing
• Discovering purpose through painful and unexpected seasons
• Recognizing what God has already placed in your hands
• Moving forward after setbacks, disappointment, trauma, and loss
• Obedience when God’s instructions don’t make sense in the natural
• Why your gifts, experiences, struggles, and testimony are not wasted
• Perseverance, resilience, healing, and spiritual growth
• Allowing God to redefine your assignment in a new season
• Building a life and legacy that points people back to Christ
• Believing that your setback does not get the final say
Madelyn reminds us that purpose isn’t always discovered by looking for something new. Sometimes God reveals it through the very experiences we would never have chosen.
As she shares in our conversation, the question may be: What has God already placed in your hands? Your education. Your experiences. Your gifts. Your victories. Even the places where you’ve been broken. Placed in God’s hands, those things can become part of the ministry, business, message, leadership, or assignment He has for your next chapter.
If you are a Christian woman navigating transition, waiting on God, recovering from disappointment, discerning your next assignment, or wondering whether God can still use you after everything you’ve experienced, this conversation is for you.
Your setback does not have the final say. Your calling is still unfolding.
