Contend for The Gospel by Rev Pelumi Adeyemi (28 December 2025) Isaiah 63 is a prophesy about God’s triumph over Edom. It starts by describing the Messiah’s triumphant stride from battle, proclaiming victory and salvation; it goes on to praise God and testify of God’s goodness, compassion and kindness; and declares God’s sovereignty! In this season of testimonies (Revelations 12:11), having been called, sanctified, and preserved in Jesus Christ (Jude 1:1), we must contend for the Gospel (Jude 1:3) and testimony of Jesus (Revelations 19:10) committed to us. Joseph contended under divine guidance: accepting his espoused pregnant virgin (Matt. 1:20); escaping to Egypt with the child and mother; returning to Israel with the child and mother; and settling in Nazareth, protecting his family (Matt. 2:13-23). Daniel, likewise, contended for a vision in chastity, through prayer and fasting (Daniel 10).
