Bosnia - Situation In Bihac

(28 Jun 1994) Separatist Moslems in the west Bosnian enclave of Bihac are apparently increasing their fire-power while fighting on the northern front has quietened, the U.N. reported on Tuesday (28/6). At present the situation is relatively quiet and people feel safe enough to walk in the streets. However, the town is surrounded by Serb forces who occasionally shell the area. Over the past few months, Bihac hospital has has to cope with a number of casualties. The local prison houses Bosnian army soldiers who have been captured in recent fights. The jail is clean and the prisoners appear to be in good condition.
