In this video, we build the cash flow statement for Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) from scratch in Excel, the way an investment banking analyst would. We use the indirect method. We start from profit after tax, add back depreciation, adjust for working capital, then subtract capex, other asset additions and dividends. What is left is free cash flow. IEX is a debt-free, net-cash company, so the surplus does not sit idle in the bank. It is swept into investments. You will see why that makes the balance sheet balance honestly, with no plug.
