5 Points From 5: Carrick Defends Man Utd’s Energy Levels | Weekend Fallout + Call-In Show

Manchester United have taken just five points from their opening five Premier League games and after another frustrating result away at Fulham, there are plenty of questions to discuss. Michael Carrick was asked after the game whether he was happy with Manchester United’s energy levels. His answer was yes. But at the 73 minute mark, United had covered 84.9km compared with Fulham’s 90.7km, while the wider Premier League data on sprinting and high-intensity running has United sitting right at the bottom of the out-of-possession numbers. Carrick was also asked whether United had been passive: “I don’t think we were. Do you think we were passive? Football is a difficult game. We controlled a lot in the first half. There’s going to be spells where things don’t go your way.” So how should we interpret those comments?
