Phoenix Entertainment Group [0:09]: Phoenix Entertainment Group was a television production company founded in July 1985 by Gerald W. Abrams, the father of J.J. Abrams, and Gerard Isenberg, as a merger of the two companies, Abrams' Cypress Point Productions and Isenberg's The Jozak Company. The company had a distribution deal with King Features Entertainment, which had a long and good relationship. In February 1989, the company was sold to The Hearst Corporation, who owned distribution affiliate King Features Entertainment, and renamed it to King Phoenix Entertainment. King Phoenix Entertainment [01:54]: In February 1989, Phoenix Entertainment Group was acquired by The Hearst Corporation, who owns distributor King Features Entertainment and it was renamed to King Phoenix Entertainment. The division was later renamed in 1990 to "Hearst Entertainment Productions" after parent King Features Entertainment was renamed to Hearst Entertainment.
