She grew up in an orphanage, where the director gave her an unusually elegant name.
Yet fate seemed determined to make her life one long struggle. She spent her days working tirelessly just to earn enough to get by, only for her short life to end in an accident at twenty-eight.
When she opened her eyes once more, she had somehow arrived in 1970.
She was now the fifteen-year-old daughter of a military family—a beautiful girl with the mind of a three-year-old, loved and protected by her family.
She thought she had finally struck it lucky. With her parents to rely on, all she needed to do was enjoy an easy life.
Unfortunately, that dream lasted only a few days.
Her father suddenly found himself caught up in a serious political scandal. Her mother was unwilling to leave him behind and live only for herself, yet she couldn't bear to drag her daughter into a life of hardship.
After agonizing over the situation, her mother packed her a bag, tears filling her eyes, and decided to send her away to the countryside for safety.
The problem was, the place she was being sent to was the home of her father's divorced former wife.
Holding tightly onto her money and ration coupons, she was completely bewildered.
This couldn't possibly be the right arrangement... could it?
Under her parents' firm insistence, she could only accept her fate. With a blank expression, she asked,
"What's my brother's name?"
"His name means 'master of words and ink.' Put together with yours, the two names make a phrase about writing and literature."
She froze.
Wait a minute...
She hadn't merely traveled back in time.
She had somehow entered the world of a novel.
And worse, she had become the foolish younger sister of the male protagonist—the girl whose early death would leave him burdened with guilt for the rest of his life.
She immediately gave up.
Fine. She would just sleep.
Maybe she'd wake up and find herself back where she belonged.
Meanwhile, her older half-brother initially wanted nothing to do with the little sister who had suddenly been placed in their mother's care. She was more than a decade younger than him, after all, and they had different mothers.
But things gradually changed.
He began hearing his mother's laughter more often during their phone calls and receiving package after package from his little sister.
The resentment in his heart slowly disappeared.
Before long, he was proudly telling his fellow soldiers how thoughtful and wonderful his sister was.
Unfortunately, he bragged a little too much.
Only a few months after the girl and their mother arrived at the military base, one of his comrades actually carried her off!
