Solid Air Jon Martyn Cover

Well here’s another Jon Martyn cover, one of my favourites. It was written to his friend Nick Drake, who was suffering from mental issues. If your unaware of these two geniuses then please check them out, you won’t be disappointed. This track feels like I’ve reached one of those plateaus you get as you progress as a musician. I never ever thought I’d ever be able to play Jon Martyn tracks. I of course cannot play them like him, but I’m very happy with this one. I feel like I’ve raised the bar and may not release another until I can match that bar…. This is not meant to be a copy of the original, same as my other covers. It’s how I play this song in my style, with respect for the original. It’s not perfect, in fact I chose to leave some imperfections in. In any case Jon never played it the same way twice…… This was a pretty difficult one to sing, I reckon you need to be stoned out of your crust to sing like him……. Double tracking the vocals was an error where I left a practice take live, and I like how it sounded. Does it work for you? Still this one is another to chill out to, close your eyes put your mind out of focus and explore the different paths through this track
