NOTE: this is NOT a how-to video. Some of the parts in this video may not be fully shown if anything got in the way of the camera or I didn't show anything fully yet. Some of the clips in this video will have parts of me struggling with removing the bottom bearing on the bottom end bell. I only recorded this video just to see if I get lucky to replace bearings on a 1980 - 1986 Casablanca fan w/Emerson K55 motors that usually have bearings doused in bearing adhesive.
When replacing bearings on 1980 - 1986 Casablanca fans using Emerson K55s with 6005zz bearings, the bearings are stuck shut on both bottom and top end bells. In order to remove the bearings, apply heat to the old bearings (blow torch recommended), then use an internal bearing puller to pull the bearings out of both end bells. However, I used PB-plaster in lieu of using a blow torch on both bearings on the bottom and top end bell and both of them broke loose on both end bells. The top side of the rotor has a flat washer that sits onto the snap ring, and a spring-loaded washer between the top bearing and flat washer. When installing new bearings, both of them have to be placed on both end bells first before reinstalling the rotor. The rotor has to slide back onto the motor before closing up the motor. The bottom end bell needs to have all of its sides tapped with a hammer in order to close the motor off and for the bottom bearing to slide onto the rotor shaft. Whenever I reassemble the fan, I've always make sure to clean the inside of the motor up so I don't have to mix old and new grease on both end bells. Even using an air compressor helps clear dust out of the bearings. Because it uses a Hang-Tru downrod, PB-blaster had to be applied onto the downrod thread first in order to unthread the downrod. Then the coupler can be removed using an angled hex socket with a 5/16 socket bit.
