There's a difference. "Joined" means playing them in a single breath, while in the other case there are 2 almost imperceptible rests. You must therefore join the eighth notes with: Palettes→Note Group Properties→O (second box from the left), after selecting the first 4 notes. This operation must be repeated for every occurrence! Except for copying and pasting the repeating bars. [Bars 13-14] Finger 1, during the slide (frets 1-5), transforms into a 1/2 c barre.
