In 1956, a 66-year-old man in Corbin, Kentucky, sold his restaurant and drove around the country selling a chicken recipe. Eight years later he sold the company for two million dollars. By 1975 he was telling a Louisville newspaper that the gravy tasted like wallpaper paste, and he and his wife had opened a restaurant of their own. This summer, that restaurant was put up for sale, and then something happened that nobody in town expected.
This countdown visits ten Kentucky places where locals will tell you the chicken beats the bucket, plus two KFC stops worth the detour. For every stop: the story, the hours and prices we could find, and the catch. Maps and charts are original to Hidden Kentucky.

Notes
All stops are in Kentucky. Maps and charts are original to Hidden Kentucky. No third-party YouTube footage is used. Most of these restaurants have no freely licensed photographs, so much of the food on screen is illustrative and is labelled that way (top right): similar dishes from other kitchens, a Southern potluck table, stock cooking footage. Pictures of the Sanders Café in Corbin, the Tousey House, the Beaumont Inn, the Claudia Sanders Dinner House, the Greyhound Tavern's fried chicken and the town views are the real places.
