Northbound CPKC grain train on the UP Desoto sub with 2 CP & 2 KCS locomotives at Meramec Avenue

From September 12th, 2026. Here’s a real neat CPKC northbound unit grain train that both me and my buddy Scott Nauert saw together just last month on a late Saturday night coming up the Union Pacific Desoto sub heading towards iron mountain junction. This train went south about a day or so ago from Iron Mountain Junction and was completely unloaded at the Italgrani Grain Company down near Davis Junction along the mighty Mississippi River a miles to the south of here although I didn’t get to see it go south. I figured I’d get it on video coming back north. Scott Nauert and I both got to see it together at Meramec Avenue in South Saint Louis near the Bevo Mill neighborhood at 11:45 pm. It had two Canadian Pacific ES44AC regular Gevos #’s 8882 as the leader, and 8825 as the fourth one sandwiching two KCS Southern Belle painted ES44AC regular Gevos #’s 4826, and 4877 as the second and third units so all four locomotives were up front heading back north. My pal Scott Nauert can sort of be seen to the right of the video here as I panned towards the north and the next crossing of Beck Avenue. After this train passed here Scott and I went our separate ways although I headed to downtown Saint Louis to Cerre street to watch Amtrak 307 the southbound Lincoln Service train arrive in from Chicago sometime way after 12 midnight. I still forget what the symbol is for CPKC grain trains like this one that come here from way up in North Dakota and use the Desoto sub to get down to Italgrani grain company to be unloaded then head right on back to North Dakota.
