Seven men were named in the lawsuit. Six were relatively easy for the internet to trace. The seventh was Winston Lee...and that was when Koreans started looking. The case began on October 19, 2024, when a 20-year-old Cornell student went to the Chi Phi fraternity house in Ithaca, New York. According to her lawsuit, she was given more alcohol, pressured to take ketamine, and subjected to hours of alleged sexual assault while becoming increasingly incapacitated. Jane Doe alleges that by the time Winston Lee became involved, she could no longer resist, speak for herself, or consent. She says Lee and Matthew Ingalls took her into another room and assaulted her there while giving her even more ketamine. Almost two years later, the lawsuit made the allegations public. Lee’s name quickly spread beyond the United States. Korean media began reporting on him, and online users tried to piece together his education, military service, family background, and whereabouts. Some posts received millions of views. None of the seven men had been criminally charged or convicted at the point covered in this episode, and Lee had not publicly responded to the allegations.
