DESCRIPTION Snow in June. Failed harvests. Families wondering how they would survive the next winter. Why did the summer of 1816 become a crisis across distant regions? This WeatherWackoo documentary follows the aftermath of Mount Tambora’s April 1815 eruption in present-day Indonesia. Through historical documents, archival imagery and explanatory weather animations, we trace how sulfate aerosols reduced incoming sunlight, disrupted growing seasons, and intensified hardship in parts of North America, Europe and Asia. We also explore the summer Mary Shelley spent near Lake Geneva, its connection to the beginnings of Frankenstein, and the evidence scientists use to reconstruct this extraordinary period. Conditions varied widely between regions, with warmer intervals even in some badly affected areas. Which weather event should WeatherWackoo investigate next? Tell us in the comments and subscribe for more weather history. #YearWithoutASummer #Tambora #WeatherHistory CHAPTERS 00:00 Snow in June 01:24 Tambora: the first disaster 02:53 How a volcano changes climate 05:04 North America: harvests at risk 07:19 Europe: cold, rain and hunger 08:51 Asia and the monsoon 10:19 Mary Shelley and Frankenstein 11:48 Remembering the crisis 12:33 What the evidence reveals 14:10 Recovery and the question for today 15:40 Closing SOURCES https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Wi... https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/20180...
