Deep Place Facelift EXPLAINED👏
The deep plane facelift technique addresses both the skin and the underlying tissues. I make incisions along the ear and up into the hairline so that the scars are hidden once they heal. I perform facelifts under local AWAKE anesthesia to create a comfortable environment for my patients, reduce pain and discomfort, and minimize recovery time🔥
The incisions allow me to gain access to the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) and the underlying tissues in the face. I release the retaining ligaments that keep the SMAS tethered to the tissue, giving it mobility to be elevated. The SMAS and skin are kept together as a composite flap to maintain the blood supply and subcutaneous connections between the layers. This minimizes bruising and swelling to help accelerate the healing process.
Many of my patients have large, hanging submandibular glands that I will partially resect before I tighten the platysma muscles in the neck. There is a lot of controversy surrounding whether or not submandibular gland resection should be performed during this procedure, so it is very important to do your research and determine if this is something you are comfortable with, and to find a surgeon with experience who can safety remove them.
Deep plane facelifts lift the SMAS and the skin as a single unit for natural results with a smooth, contoured jawline🤩
