Kindle Unlimited Is Becoming Kindle Plus: What It Means for Authors | Academy Voices Live

Kindle Unlimited is becoming Kindle Plus, and subscribers will be able to listen as well as read. Here's what we know about which audiobooks get in, how authors get paid, and what it means for narrators. Angela, Gabby and I go through the changes as we understand them: which audiobooks qualify, how listening gets counted as pages read from the same pooled fund, and why royalty share and wide-distribution audiobooks are left out. We also talk about why the timing lines up with the holidays. Then something new: story series. If you write in episodes on Wattpad, Royal Road or Substack, a real narrator can now read each episode, and listeners start free with Episode 1. We're looking for our first 10 founding writers. We also answer your questions on audio standards, narrating in other languages, accents on narrator profiles, and how duets and multicast work on Academy Voices, where every narrator gets their own contract and we put the parts together.
