March 22, 2025 - 13th Annual Chamorro Cultural Festival Opening Ceremony

This year’s Che’Lu Chamorro Cultural Festival was fascinating as Fafa’någue Rosemary Mantanona takes lead in gathering the guma’s hailing from Las Vegas, Washington, Long Beach, CA., and our village of San Diego! A site to marvel at as the ocean waves part and the frigid birds in flight are tailed by two giant Sakman’s at sea! Navigator uncle Mario “Sakman” Borja joins in as the navigator at sea chanting from his soul! Oh let the fugu begin! The hearts and spirit of our Chamorro people watching were ignited with so much pride the cheering was endless. Hearts were moved. Lives were changed. Tears were shed. This beautiful and vibrant glimpse of what our way of life as Chamorros may have been like was unforgettable!
