Learn how to model and texture a realistic human heart in Blender, from a simple cube to a wet, glossy medical visualization asset rendered in Cycles.
In this step-by-step tutorial we build the whole asset with non-destructive tools: a quad sphere shaped with a lattice, anatomical bulges and grooves from vertex groups and Displace modifiers, hollow blood vessels made from Bezier curves, a branching coronary network held to the surface with Shrinkwrap, and layered procedural materials, with no image textures needed.
What you'll learn:
▸ Building a clean quad sphere (Subdivision Surface + Cast) and why it beats a UV sphere
▸ Shaping organic forms with a Lattice cage
▸ Vertex groups + Displace modifiers for ventricles, atria and grooves
▸ Aorta, arch branches, pulmonary trunk and venae cavae from curves, with Bisect cut ends and Solidify walls
▸ Coronary arteries with tapering curves and Shrinkwrap (Apply on Spline)
▸ Procedural myocardium shader: Noise, Color Ramp, Attribute-driven fat mask, Coat, Subsurface and Bump
▸ Three-point studio lighting, a turntable rig and Cycles render settings
Note: every step uses standard Blender tools and modifiers. The operations were triggered from a Python script so each step is exactly reproducible, and the narration explains the manual equivalent of each one.
