Oasis - Live in Atlanta (8th February 1998)

Oasis Location: Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A Venue: Fox Theatre Date: 8th February 1998 Source: Audience Recording Their first show in Atlanta since 1995 (mainly down to their show on the Morning Glory Tour being one of many that were canned after Noel walked out). Tonight, they play the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. In comparison to the Omni Coliseum, the Fox Theatre is about a quarter of the capacity, and even then sources differ on whether or not this gig was sold out. You can’t blame them, as despite Be Here Now initially being their highest charting album in the States, some American fans were still probably not best pleased when their gigs were cancelled (especially as some gigs like Los Angeles were also cancelled earlier that same year!) Fortunately for the band though, this is the last gig of the North American Tour, and the band would get a much needed break to collect their thoughts. The fatigue on the band themselves though isn’t really anywhere to be seen. Liam surprisingly still sounds far stronger here than the first show of the tour in Camden, and has been very consistent the last 3 weeks. Noel’s playing as well is just as good as the start of the year too. His rendition is Fade In-Out tonight is excellent (helped by one of the members on Cornershop playing sitar) and his playing on It’s Getting Better Man and Champagne Supernova in my opinion makes them the best versions from 1998. With a strong Liam and Noel plus the rest of the band on peak form too, this is not one to miss out on. Oasis would return to the States soon enough, but not in the way they intended.
