Dr. Kaiser Bengali, in his Book Launch presentation of a book, "Pebble in the Pond: An Approach to Regional Development in Balochistan and Sindh" by Dr. Kaiser Bengali and Mehnaz Hafeez. Dr. Kaiser explains the book's overall purpose: to serve as a guideline for identifying growth centres in Balochistan and Sindh. He highlights that the government needs to put the pebble of development into the pond of the economy, and that the waves of economic growth should be carried forward by private investors.
Areas of discussion:
Balochistan:
Gwadar and the surrounding urban centres
Khuzdar and the surrounding urban centres
Sindh:
Sukkur and the surrounding urban centres
Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah) and the surrounding urban centres
Hyderabad and the surrounding urban centres
Mithi and the surrounding urban centres
The main idea of identifying growth centres is based on the fundamentals of water availability, a 20-kilometer minimum distance to other growth centres and district headquarters, population density, economic growth potential, flood-affected areas, connectivity with roads, and various other factors.
