Modern culture loves to reduce Jesus to a harmless moral philosopher—yet C.S. Lewis proved this view is intellectually bankrupt.
In Mere Christianity, Oxford scholar C.S. Lewis presented the famous Trilemma: Jesus Christ was either a Liar, a Lunatic, or the Lord of the universe. By claiming the authority to forgive sins committed against others, declaring His pre-existence before Abraham, and asserting that He would judge all human history, Jesus claimed absolute divinity. If those claims are false, He was either a manipulative sociopath or a deranged madman on the level of a lunatic. But if His claims are true, He is God. Lewis exposed the patronizing fallacy of modern humanism, proving that Jesus never left the option of being merely a "good moral teacher" open to anyone.
