Restricting Adverse Fracture-Driven Interactions Through Completion Optimization and Active Guidance: Case Study from the Southern Delaware Basin
Drill2Frac and ShearFRAC will present a comprehensive case study demonstrating effective strategies for mitigating adverse fracture-driven interactions. The study encompasses various aspects, including optimizing completions to mitigate against fracture-driven interactions through the refining of cluster designs and placement, and simulating alternative completion designs using Drill2Frac's FlowFX. Furthermore, it involves optimized pump schedules to enhance near-wellbore fracture complexity and volume to first response with the aid of ShearFRAC's FracBRAIN. The real-time results of fracture-driven interactions between infill wells and parent wells with active guidance mitigation is also incorporated. In addition, the case study incorporates the utilization of chemical tracers for monitoring purposes to validate the effectiveness of completion optimization and active frac guidance.
The findings of the study demonstrate that the fracture intensity and morphology, as measured by ShearFRAC, align with the rock properties provided by Drill2Frac.
