On one side stood the powerful Mughal Empire under Emperor Akbar. On the other stood Maharana Pratap of Mewar, determined to defend the political independence of his kingdom. In this episode, we explore the events leading up to the Battle of Haldighati in 1576. Akbar assigned the campaign against Mewar to Raja Man Singh of Amber, a Rajput ruler and senior Mughal commander. Maharana Pratap, meanwhile, prepared his forces with Rajput chiefs, local warriors, Hakim Khan Sur, Ramshah Tomar, Jhala Maan and other allies. The episode also explores the strategic importance of the Aravalli Mountains, the narrow terrain of Haldighati, the forces assembled on both sides, and the historical and legendary legacy of Chetak, Maharana Pratap's famous horse. Then came the morning of 18 June 1576. Two armies stood face to face in the yellow soil of Haldighati. Diplomacy was over.
