Some memories never really leave.
They stay beneath an old willow tree, inside a wooden house, in the empty chair where someone used to sit. They live in the smell of cotton on Mama's hands, in an old coat hanging behind a door, and in the songs we remember long after the voices are gone.
This journey begins beneath the willow tree, where an old man stands remembering another time.
He remembers his mother's hands.
He remembers two chairs beneath the oak, waiting for two people who once sat there together. He remembers the river that carried away his younger days, and a woman named June whose name still comes back whenever the evening gets quiet.
Some memories are sweeter.
Some are harder to carry.
There was an old dog that waited faithfully by the gate. There was a girl who sang to the rain. There was a brother whose coat still hangs where he left it, as if one day he might walk through the door again.
And beneath the magnolia tree, there is still a woman waiting inside an old memory.
As the Delta evening turns golden, all those forgotten moments seem to come alive again.
This collection is a journey through memory, family, love, loss and the passing of time, told through the raw atmosphere of Mississippi Delta Blues.
Acoustic steel-string guitar, bottleneck slide, crying harmonica, foot stomps and the rough warmth of an old blues recording carry these stories through dusty roads, cotton fields, wooden homes and quiet Southern evenings.
Some things disappear.
Some people leave.
But a good blues song remembers.
Close your eyes.
Listen to the guitar.
And remember the people, places and moments that time could never completely take away.
