PRIME MINISTER KAMLA PERSAD-BISSESSAR CONTRIBUTE TO VESTING BILL IN PARLIAMENT ON 18TH JUNE

The Miscellaneous Provisions (Heritage Petroleum, Paria Fuel Trading and Guaracara Refining Vesting) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was presented in the lower house on June 18th 2026 by the Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Leroy Baptiste. The Bill and amendments were passed in the lower house: 26 yes, 0 against, 13 abstentions. The upper house then passed the amendments on 11th September 2026. This bill now allows OWTU to serve as the Recognised Majority Union (RMU) for workers at Heritage Petroleum and Paria Fuel Company Limited.
