There's no point when Jesus wasn't a human being when He was on earth and there was no point, He wasn't God. Darkness doesn't need motivation to exist. It's just there. Light is to be fought for. At a point in Jesus eternal existence, He had to step into time to rescue His image in which no one could rescue but Him.
