That is not a lack of effort. It is a house built to need cleaning, and most of the time you spend on it goes into fighting surfaces, corners and objects that were never designed to be easy to wipe. In this video we go through thirteen of those shortcuts, one room at a time. The bathroom mat you can toss in the wash instead of scrubbing the tiles under it. The bare wooden shelf that holds three objects and collects no dust at all. The rug you can shake out in thirty seconds instead of vacuuming around four table legs. None of them costs much, and most take less time than it takes to find the spray bottle. Here's the thing: no cleaning brand wants you to need fewer products. The cleaning aisle is built on the idea that every surface needs its own solution, its own bottle and its own weekend. Scandinavian homes tend to work the other way round. They use fewer materials, fewer ledges and fewer decorative edges, so there is simply less to clean in the first place, and that is true even in a long, grey winter when the house is closed up and dusty. We also end with a trick I am not going to number. It sits one step back from all the others, and it is the reason the other twelve work so well together.
