This is a video made by me on April 12th, 2017 to capture cataplexy that is caused by laughter. I also have cataplexy when I get upset. I have memories of my cataplexy going back to around age 6-7. I never thought about it and thought it was normal. I never worried because the feeling in my hands always returned within a few minutes. I have been tested twice for Epilepsy and only recently figured out this mystery strangely enough because my daughter was diagnosed with Narcolepsy. Recently my doctor requested that I try to capture it on film for insurance purposes because my MSLT only had one SOREMP. Tickling me or the thought of someone tickling me is almost a sure fire way to cause my muscle weakness in my forearms and hands not to mention elsewhere. For 30+ years I have thought this is normal when people laugh. Now I know it is normal... for me! I now know I'm not crazy or lazy, it just Narcolepsy. I also have excessive daytime sleepiness and really mixed up nighttime sleep. Sleep paralysis happens on occasion but not as much as when I was younger. I hope this video helps solidify my diagnosis so I can finally get the correct medicine that will help me.
