A Deeper Look at the Next World Tarot with my friend kate

Join me and my friend Kate as we take a close look at the Major Arcana of The Next World Tarot by Cristy C. Road. This deck gives us a lot to talk about. Rather than simply moving card by card through the imagery, our conversation explores some of the larger ideas running through the deck—identity, community, power, resistance, vulnerability, representation, and the ways tarot can speak to both personal and collective experience. Kate brings a particularly interesting perspective to the conversation. She has a PhD in Anthropology and Women’s Studies, along with a background in community and grassroots organizing and work with people affected by domestic and social violence. I was especially interested in hearing what she noticed in these cards and where her interpretation of the imagery might take us. And, as always, I’m approaching the deck through the eyes of a tarot reader and collector—looking at the symbols, the artwork, the traditional tarot structure, and simply asking: What is this card saying to me?
