I Haven't been this excited about a pairing in a long time ! Did not see a tie, so refrained from announcing the breeding, and had all but given up on it, when she started looking a little heavy Sept 11. Expecting pups second or third week in October Homing second or third week of December "Sheballs" is one of my favorites. This will be her first litter. And Hogo is proving to be pretty ideal for the farm/ranch line. Very moderate prey drive, learns what's expected, leaves the goats and chickens alone without any particular internal conflict (that's low prey drive) And rarely barks The short version of the story is we mix low prey drive mastiff into LGD mixes to lower the independence and increase the biddability; while still maintaining a dog that is good with livestock, less inclined to bark, and far more likely to obey, stick around, etc. than any pure LGD Most people really do not need the level of independence present in a pure livestock guardian dog.
