Time to Pay Up is the long-awaited payoff to Favor for a Favor. Years, decades, perhaps centuries after a seemingly insignificant bargain, Vaelith arrives to collect what was promised. Not with threats. Not with violence. Not with anger. With perfect timing. The song follows Vaelith as he confronts a demon who long ago accepted help in exchange for an unspecified future favor. Since then, the debtor has risen through Hell's ranks, eventually becoming a trusted gatekeeper standing at the threshold of the King's domain. He believed the debt forgotten. Vaelith never did. The terrifying part is how little emotion Vaelith shows. He isn't vengeful. He isn't cruel. To him, the debt is simply a story reaching its final chapter. A promise made deserves a promise kept. The favor itself is deceptively small: open a gate, look the other way, allow someone entry. Yet that single act may determine the fate of Hell itself.
