There’s a voice in your head that has opinions about everything. It narrates. It analyzes. It worries. It rehearses conversations. It replays things you said three days ago. It predicts what other people might be thinking. Sometimes it criticizes you. Sometimes it tries desperately to solve problems that don’t actually have solutions. Meet your inner roommates. In Part 2, Step 3 of our FREE course, Why You Can’t Stop Overthinking, Overreacting, and Shutting Down, we explore a new way of relating to the constant stream of thoughts, emotions, impulses, and protective messages happening inside your mind. Your inner roommates aren’t necessarily telling you the truth—and they aren’t the enemy, either. They’re often trying to help. The anxious roommate might be scanning for what could go wrong. The critical roommate might believe that pointing out your flaws will protect you from rejection or failure. The overthinking roommate might be convinced that if it analyzes something long enough, it can finally create certainty. Instead of fighting these voices, believing everything they say, or trying to force them to be quiet, you can learn to notice them. You can become curious about what they’re trying to do for you. You can thank your brain for trying to protect you. And then you can remember something important: You don’t have to let your inner roommates drive the car. You can hear what they have to say without handing them the steering wheel. That’s the power of conscious awareness. You begin to recognize the difference between having an internal experience and being controlled by it. Your roommates can come along for the ride. But you get to drive. The complete course includes the full video series along with key takeaways, guided practices, reflection exercises, meditations, and practical tools designed to help you turn what you're learning into skills you can actually use. ABOUT ROOTED EQ Rooted EQ is built around three core practices: TRAIN ATTENTION. CREATE SAFETY. LIVE WITH INTENTION. Learn to notice what your mind is doing and choose where you place your attention. Learn to work with your nervous system and return to your center when you’re activated. And learn to create enough space between what happens and what you do next to make choices based on your values instead of automatically following old protective patterns. The goal isn’t to eliminate difficult thoughts, feelings, or reactions. It’s to develop the awareness and skills that give you greater freedom to choose your response, trust yourself, stay connected to who you are, and build a life that reflects what actually matters to you. The most important relationship you’ll ever build is the one you have with yourself. Rooted EQ helps you build that relationship through curiosity, compassion, and trust. 👉 Access the complete FREE course: RootedEQ.com 👉 Join the Community: RootedEQ.com/Community
