Visionaries for Change, a giving circle of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, kicked off Preserving Land, Building Wealth: Helping Our Black Farmers at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
Members participated in a guided tour of the Foodbank led by President and CEO Christopher Tan, followed by a panel discussion featuring fourth-generation peanut farmer Elisha Barnes and Renee Foster, founder and president of Hampton Roads Urban Agriculture. The conversation was moderated by Dr. Kendra Robinson, a Visionaries for Change member and owner of The Healthy Boss.
This event marked the beginning of a multipart initiative focused on spreading knowledge, creating opportunities and promoting Black farmers throughout Hampton Roads.
Visionaries for Change is committed to developing solutions for Black communities, particularly those experiencing economic distress. To learn more, visit VisionariesForChange.org.
