Another of the easily-identified sound of Johnny Cash on Sun Records. Released August 11, 1958, the flip side, "The Ways Of A Woman In Love," was on the Billboard country charts in two weeks flat. This side took a little longer, entering that chart in September. Eventually, "You're The Nearest Thing To Heaven" made it to #5 on Billboard's country chart (#24 pop) and #7 on the Music Vendor country chart. It also made #82 on the Cashbox pop chart. Locally, it made top-10 on most country stations, and even hit top-10 in Duluth on top-40 station KDAL, as well as CJMS in Montreal, Canada.
