August 20, 1941, two in the afternoon. On a country road west of Krasnogvardeysk (today Gatchina), a column of German light tanks drives towards Leningrad. Beside the road, a single Soviet KV-1 is waiting, dug into the earth up to its turret. Senior Lieutenant Zinoviy Kolobanov lets the motorcycles pass, waits until the lead tank reaches two birch trees... and fires. Head, then tail. With swamp on both sides of the road, the column is trapped. Soviet records credit his crew with 22 tanks. German records tell a different story. What really happened? 🗺️ The map tells the story, the model shows it. Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/@MapAndSteel?...
