LITTLE 'B' - IN MEMORY OF RICHARD COOKE-JARLO OUR FORMER DRUMMER WHO DIED RECENTLY

Little ’B’ - The Shadows - In memory of our former drummer Richard Cooke- Jarlo who died recently. This is a recording by The Coins in 1999 made using a ‘Tascam' 8 track cassette recorder. Richard was a great drummer, “World Class” in my opinion. He played drums with The Coins from 1977 until 2008, when he left to emigrate to Denmark. I joined The Coins in 1978 and so we played together for 30 years. He was an exceptional drummer who could pick up on the correct tempo and style for a new song we had not played before and do some great fill ins for it as well. His favourite band was The Shadows, but he also loved many other bands such as The Beatles and The Hollies and he also also loved jazz music and played at the Brecon Jazz Festival. In later years he also played in a Shadows tribute band called Bungleflint with The Coins bass guitarist, Andy, which also featured another You Tube uploader Phil McGarrick (random275) on rhythm guitar. When he emigrated to Denmark he played in another Shadows tribute band called the “Danish Shadows”. Richard and his wife Ma-Lou used to come back to Wales frequently and we would have a reunion with current and past members of The Coins. Sadly with the pandemic, we had not seen him for a few years. He will be greatly missed in the music world. The Coins members, past and present, send their deepest sympathy and condolences to his wife Ma-Lou and their families.
